If you are like me, you've probably been scratching your head the last few days(or even few months), wondering why in the world our government is giving billions of dollars to companies in the private sector. We continue to hear phrases such as, "too big to fail" when describing these conglomerates that absolutely have to be saved with taxpayer’s money. Each of these stories has its own twists and turns, but always seems to end with the same tragic conclusion. Large corporations make political contributions to our elected officials, they hire professional influencers (lobbyists) to begin to control and corrupt our government. As a result, they quickly learn how to get on the corporate welfare bandwagon. When you think you have seen it all, and when things appear they cannot get any worse, something happens such as what I witnessed this morning.
Christopher Dodd, Sen. from Connecticut (home to the headquarters of AIG), was caught red-handed making a quick last-minute change to a recent government spending bill. This change allowed AIG executives to receive their bonuses, despite recent legislation that had banned such bonuses in cases where companies received government bailout money. When the media uncovered the fact that "someone" had slipped in this last-minute loophole, the question became who? It was a mystery for several days and no one would admit to being involved with adding this language to the bill. Evidence was quickly gathering that Christopher Dodd of Connecticut was the guilty party. A CNN reporter confronted Dodd to find out if the rumors were true. Dodd absolutely denied having any involvement. You will see from the video below, that this man is an absolute liar and is not fit to serve in public office. Christopher Dodd was also one of the senators in charge of oversight of the United States banking system. We learned several months ago that Dodd was the recipient of a sweetheart loan from Countrywide Mortgage. Yes, another big company buying influence in our government. When I write articles like this, the first thing that happens is I will get a flurry of e-mails reminding me that Republicans are corrupt too. You can save your time sending me those e-mails, I already agree with you.
I was talking with my wife about all of this last night and almost teared up as I thought about what our forefathers would do if they saw the current corrupt nature of our leaders. Please take a moment and watch the video below. There is no doubt that Sen. Chris Dodd is a liar and a corrupt politician. He is the responsible party behind the AIG bonuses. What is probably the most amazing element of this video to me is how a man could be absolutely caught in a lie and simply brush it off. I guess when you're a liar you get accustomed to doing this type of thing. When and how are we ever going to change the current state of our government? I go through cycles of anger that lead to sadness. I ask myself what ever happened to the United States of America? Please watch this video below and forward this article to your friends and contacts. Maybe we can simply bring awareness to these things one at a time and in some small way make a difference. You might not be surprised to learn that Dodd received more campaign contributions from AIG than any other elected official. Do these guys think we are stupid?

Hello,
I think each one of us has been touched in some way during this financial meltdown. We all know someone who has been layed-off, lost a house, lost money in a 401K fund, can’t get credit, ect. It’s affected everyone. This has been caused by two things: GREED and some in our Government. There was a systematic attack on laws that govern financial matters across the board. This involved BOTH Republicans and Democrats. We have to get over party affiliation and go after the guilty persons. I think this is a turning point for our country! What has gone on here can’t stand! Each one of us has to become familiar with what has happened and take action. Write letters, call, attend protests, run for public office, VOTE the guilty out. Billions and Billions of dollars have been wasted. You and I are going to pay for this. Generations will pay for this! I know we all are trying to keep our heads above water now BUT take the time and find out what has happened. Many in Washington are looking out for only themselves they put on a big show for the cameras but they are only looking out for special interest groups who are giving lots of money for access. Right now I fear for my country.
President George Washington summed this up well.
“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like a fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.”
It’s up to each one of us! Take Action! What are you going to do??
