I was not surprised this morning to hear that Pat Robertson is going to endorse Rudi Giuliani. I have nothing against Giuliani, but he is not a conservative. Any cursory review of his record will reveal that. So why did Robertson set aside his conservative values and jump on the Giuliani bandwagon?
Pat Robertson is a savvy guy and I have gotten to know him over the years. I predict that he is the first of many Christian leaders to soon endorse Giuliani. I believe this because Giuliani represents the best chance to beat Hillary. This will become the mantra of the Christian right very soon. We will set aside which candidate we might want for the who can beat Hillary option. Giuliani is not our guy, but the idea of a president Hillary is so repulsive to Christians, we will choose to stretch our values to bring Rudi into the tent to keep Hillary out of the White House.

Yes, but Giuliani? Talk about a reach...

This is a tough one, but while I agree with the philosophical idea of the previous post, I, for one, am not willing to take the risk of a Clinton or Obama presidency. I believe the strategy should be to embrace a Republican winner, and then hopefully his time in office will help people forget Bush and pave the way for a more conservative president in 2012.

Pat Robertson is selling out. I will never watch The 700 Club again and if Giuliani is the Republican nominee, I will not vote this year!
